Alex Whitman, M.A. (she/her) earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing for Film & Television from Emerson College and her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling & Social Psychology from Ball State University. She is currently a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Ball State University, specializing in sex therapy.
Alex’s clinical experiences span community mental health, private practice, and community-based work focused on platonic and romantic relationships, anxiety, academic and workplace adjustment, racial identity exploration and trauma, and LGBTQIA2S+ identities. These diverse experiences have equipped her to empower clients in developing an integrated sense of self, considering their cultural backgrounds and systemic environments, and acknowledging the profound impact these factors have on their identities.
Alex works with individuals of all ages, couples, and polyamorous relationships, offering both individual and relationship therapy. She approaches her work from an anti-oppressive lens, dedicated to fostering liberation and empowerment in her clients’ lives. Her therapeutic approach centers on creating a safe and affirming space where vulnerability is welcomed. Alex utilizes an eclectic approach, drawing from feminist, narrative, emotions-focused, and family systems frameworks to offer tailored care rooted in compassion and understanding. She honors the whole person, recognizing and valuing intersecting identities and lived experiences.
