Dr. Breezie J. Gibson completed her doctoral degree from Western Michigan University and her pre-doctoral internship at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Her training as a generalist has prepared her to work with a variety of client concerns such as depression, anxiety, relationships, and other interpersonal issues. Dr. Gibson has specific interest and experience working with clients on topics of race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, identity development, vocational development, LGBTQ+, QPOC, immigration, generational conflicts, and the intersectionality of these topics. She is receiving specialized training in the treatment of sexual concerns, couples therapy, and perinatal mental health.
Dr. Gibson’s approach to therapy is grounded in multicultural counseling from a social justice decolonized lens while utilizing aspects of psychodynamic, interpersonal process, and cognitive-behavioral interventions. She believes in helping clients meet their therapeutic goals by fostering a safe space for vulnerability, building rapport, trust, and providing support to them.
In her previous clinical experiences, Dr. Gibson has enjoyed working with children, college students, emerging young adults, and adults in the community and at various college counseling centers. Outside of clinical work, Dr. Gibson is an educator at a university, enjoys fitness, traveling, trying new foods, and spending time with family/friends and her maltipoo.
