Dr. Walker completed a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University in 2018 after earning an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University in 2014. She has worked in a number of clinical settings including community mental health centers, educational settings, medical centers, and in private practice, providing psychological evaluation services and therapy services to children, adolescents, adults, and families.
Dr. Walker joined IPCI in 2018 and enjoys working with patients across the lifespan with a variety of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, weight concerns and body image, trauma, grief, issues related to gender identity and sexual orientation, relationship difficulties, and women’s issues. She draws from interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and holistic health approaches yet tailors her approach to meet the needs and goals of her clients. Dr. Walker is supportive and compassionate and believes each of us has an intrinsic need for meaning and significance, a capacity for change, and the ability to heal and grow.
She emphasizes providing clients with a safe and secure space to explore their feelings, discuss their perspectives, problem solve difficulties, and ultimately, experience healing. In addition to counseling, Dr. Walker provides psychological evaluation services to assess cognitive functioning and academic achievement and to provide diagnostic clarification. In particular, she enjoys working with youth to assess strengths, undiscovered potential, or giftedness in an effort to help families determine and navigate optimal ways to support their child’s overall development, well-being, and social and academic success. Dr. Walker is available to provide therapy services (e.g., individual, couples) and psychological evaluation (testing) services.
