Lucy Bhuyan, PhD, Postdoctoral Resident

Lucy Bhuyan (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Resident at IPCI and a graduate of Indiana University’s Counseling Psychology PhD program. Trained as a generalist, she has experience working with a variety of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, interpersonal violence, and experiences of marginalization. She particularly enjoys working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and people of color.

Lucy believes that building trust between client and therapist is foundational to growth, and thus strives to make the therapeutic relationship warm, welcoming, and collaborative. Grounded in feminist, interpersonal, and compassion-based approaches to therapy, Lucy strongly believes that psychological concerns often derive from unjust systems and/or unmet relational needs. She often works with clients to identify how systemic and/or interpersonal issues are impacting their mental health so that both she and the client can develop strategies for creating more agency and change in the client’s life.
